Hawk’s Landing Golf Club

Hawk’s Landing Golf Club has got to be one of the most interesting of golf courses in the Central Florida area. Not to mention, it is also one the most beautiful. While unlike the others that are either too “man-made”, and some are too “natural”, this golf vacation destination is that one course that perfectly balances it. It is a 50-50 share of nature, with its wide selection of native Florida vegetation of queen palms, oaks, sand pines and beautiful jasmines and azaleas among others. The other 50 of human genius, is the magnanimous Orlando World Center Marriott Resort that is at the forefront of this exquisite facility. This is one course that perfectly suits what a ‘golf vacation destination‘ exactly is.

The course sits on a 220-acre property right outside of the hotel. Surprisingly, though, when the games are on, the hotel just sits at the background, that is so easily ignored. The beautiful features and the fun play are a golfer’s best distraction here. Hawk’s Landing Golf Club features a very flat layout that is common in Florida courses, but this should never lure golfers into thinking it’s going to be an easy ride. Trees, water and bunkers have been placed on this golf vacation favorite for a reason and it is nto just the aesthetics.

At over 6,800 yards from the longest tees, par 71, with three other sets of tees, the course gives an ultimate fun but fair challenge to golfers despite the skill level. Hawk’s Landing Golf Club is beautiful and playable – golf trips can never go wrong here. It brings the kind of golf that makes it worth the trip.

Stonegate Golf Club – Cypress Course

The Clifton, Ezell and Clifton design trio has more than proven their worth in the craft for their works in the Central Florida area alone. For those in the know of what sort of reputation – mostly local golfers and those who frequent the area for golf trips – this design group has in this region, they know what to expect: the unexpected. Their golf courses bear a striking quality made from the perfect and unparalleled mesh of nature and nurture that only results from joint human genius. And a perfect example for that is Stonegate Golf Club’s Cypress Course.

Measuring close to 6,800 yards from the tips, the Cypress Course has four sets of tees to delight golfers of all skill levels. It was so well made for a wide variety of handicaps that it is a fair challenge for the lesser skilled players, and is a real challenge for the really skilled ones. This golf vacation destination was made to follow the natural contours of the land, but is accentuated by wide fairways and large bunkers. That won’t feel too claustrophobic for golfers – although the healthy share of trees and other natural vegetation in the course would in one way or another prove to be a little annoying.

On top of that, water plays on a majority of holes on the Cypress Course – fourteen in total. The greens are fast but well guarded. If that is a little too daunting for a golf vacation, the scenery will be more than enough a consolation. Clifton, Ezell and Clifton proved yet again on this creation just how much they know the Central Florida, and how it would look best as a golf facility.

Remington Golf Club

The design team of Clifton, Ezell, Clifton have made quite an impression in the Orlando golfing scene. Their Orlando portfolio includes quite a lot of best sellers, including Kissimmee Bay Golf Club, Stoneybrook East Golf Club, King’s Ridge Golf Club, and the Remington Golf Club. The last one holds a close semblance to the Kissimmee Bay, and are amongst the most recognized golf vacation destinations both as a CEC creation and a go-to place for golfers visiting Orlando.

Remington Golf Club is an 18-hole course that stretches to a whooping 7,111 yards from the longest tees, par-72. It is conveniently located just a short ten-minute drive from the Orlando International Airport, making it a great option for golf vacations. Golfers need not go far to experience what brand of excellence in golfing this 4-star rated golf course has to offer them. Like most every Florida course, water is abundant here. These water features are paired with generous landing areas and undulating fairways, not to mention verdant greens with an abundance of native vegetation.

The course comes with 5 sets of tees, making golf trips here even more inviting and accommodating for all types of golfers. Even more so, it has a unique water driving range and huge practice areas for that perfect warmup to an even better round. Clifton, Ezell, Clifton have clearly sealed their legacy in the Central Florida golfing scene. Remington Golf Club is, without a doubt, at par with all the other excellent courses crafted by this trio.

The North Shore Golf Club

It is not an everyday occurrence that one finds an entirely different paradise without going too far out from the city. Unless, of course, if the city in question is Orlando. Not every city in Florida, or in America for that matter, could get from one world-class theme park to a high-end golf course in a matter of minutes. From family-oriented ones to golf vacations, one can get it all in here. Orlando, without a doubt, is just too full of surprises – and there is just no room nor reason for disappointment. One of the best surprises Orlando is the new Mike Dasher creation, the North Shore Golf Club.

This golf vacation destination is located a short 10-minute drive from the Orlando International Airport, in the southeast end of the city. Dasher created a complete spectacle here, with two very distinct nines meshed all too perfectly, something only a true genius could create. The front nine of the North Shore Golf Club features a modern links style layout of sorts, with a lot of natural wetlands, marshland preserves and native vegetation. The back nine is different, though not contrasting, with its thick mess of centenarian oaks growing liberally on undulating fairways. Together, the 18-hole spectacle is an entirely different world – separate from the rest of Orlando.

Surprisingly though, the North Shore Golf Club contains one classic Florida golf feature: water. There is water on both nines, melding well with all the other course features that include some of Orlando’s best and fastest TifEagle greens. The course measures a good 6,898 yards from the tips with multiple tees to accommodate most any handicap. The only thing not surprising about this golf course is the fact that golf trips here are going to be fun. Very fun.

Ridgewood Lakes Golf and Country Club

When in Orlando in search of a golf vacation destination with a fun and enjoyable layout, multiple sets of tees, beautiful surroundings, and a great value for money, golfers know that Ridgewood Lakes Golf and Country Club always tops the list. The golf course knows just exactly what to give and how much of it to give its patrons. No wonder this is on the list of many golfers that they do not hesitate to recommend to friends and family.

Ridgewood Lakes Golf and Country Club is the Ted McAnlis creation in Davenport, Fl that perfectly epitomizes the essence of Florida golfing – fun, unforgettable, and has lots of sand and water. In this case, large and sparkling white sand bunkers and water hazards playing on each one of its 18 holes accentuate the perfectly maintained greens and wide fairways. This gives the course enough grit and teeth to make every round here challenging. But it is generally playable from any one of the four sets of tees, the longest being 7,016 yards long, par 72. This makes it an ultimate favorite for golf trips among the ladies, the seniors, and pretty much everyone else.

The golf vacation favorite, though, did not stop with an excellent layout to make this course stand out. Ridgewood Lakes Golf and Country Club has an even more beautiful practice and driving range; a most perfect warm up to go with the game. The search for the best golfing experience in Orlando starts from everywhere, but will always end here.

Shingle Creek Golf Club

Most, if not all golf courses carry with them a “time” theme to their designs. Others are plain “new-age”, some are “classic”. But very rarely does the golfing world see a golf course that carries the grandeur of both the time yonder and today’s innovations. It is like seeing a time warp all at the same time and place. One such course is Orlando’s Shingle Creek Golf Club. The golf vacation destination carries with it a long and rich history embedded in its natural features, accentuated by the genius of a new-age designer.

Mark Harman designed this 18-hole, 7,213-yard, par-72 golf vacation favorite. The Shingle Creek Golf Club is named after the creek of the same name, which is a part of the headwaters of the scenic Everglades of Florida. Golfers are to expect quite a lot of waterholes on this course. Along with the waters, the sandy banks of this course also play a part in defining the challenge set by this course. And all that beauty is set against a backdrop and earth of pristine natural goodness. Unmoved, untouched, and maintained to always be at its prime all year round. These features of the course combine to create a stunning, mystical and unforgettably beautiful spectacle that is bound to make one forget Disney is but a short drive away.

To make matters even better than it already is, the course has five sets of tees to choose from. That is a gift to golfers with no discrimination whatsoever for the players handicap. It is an enjoyable, fairly challenging course from any tee. The Shingle Creek Golf Club is that rare golf course that brings the good ol’ days of golfing into any golf trips, without it feeling outdated at all.

Falcon’s Fire Golf Club

Who says the best things in Orlando golfing come with mouse ears for logos? One need not go far, nor look elsewhere to find a most perfect alternate to the Disney courses in Orlando! For a different flavor for golf vacations in Disney city, there is one place to go too – and it’s only a stone’s throw away from the main Disney gates: The Falcon’s Fire Golf Club. It is gool ol’ golfing goodness at its purest, most beautiful form.

The Falcon’s Fire Golf Club holds an elusive four star-rating from the Golf Digest’s Places to Play list and is listed as amongst Florida’s best. And the reasons are not at all hard to tell. The Rees Jones design features classic architecture of more than 7000 yards from the longest tees, par 72. That is all 7000 yards of pristine maintenance of prime Tif Eagle greens, and year-round optimum conditioning to suit all types of golfers, having five sets of tees to choose from. The course is challenging only to those who are willing to be challenged; the shorter tees make it a fair and fun course to play – even more so, relaxing thanks to the natural scenic features. In total, the golf vacation destination is always a delight to play.

And a greater delight off the greens too. With world-class services and amenities that include a highly-recognized Falcon’s Nest Restaurant known for being exquisite and an award-winning golf shop, there is not a reason to doubt whether the Falcon’s Fire Golf Club is at par with the world class, highly famous Disney courses. It sure does, sans the sky-high green fees at that! Now that wasn’t hard. That is golf trips worth taking out of the usual and the ordinary.

Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club

A golf vacation to Orlando would surely never stop within Orlando, right? Surely, the outskirts of the theme-park city has a lot to offer for their golf loving guests. This is Florida! Golf is basically everywhere! All there is to do is drive a little further out of the city and voila! The rarest of gems are ripe and ready for the picking! What’s more surprising, these courses turn out to be even greater than the overrated ones in the city. One perfect example is the Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club in Haines City, just off of Highway 27.

The golf vacation destination boasts of a risk-reward game that is defined by five par-4 holes and several par-3s, extensive mounding with elevation changes of up to 100 feet, and more than a hundred strategically placed bunkers. From the longest tees, the Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club measure a good 7,200 yards and play for a par of 72. It plays with five sets of tees for yardage lengths that will suit any type of golfer. On top of it all, the greens are large and fast. Every feature of this course was made to provoke and challenge golfers.

Now, that said, it should not be surprising why quite a lot of golfers choose to take golf trips at the Southern Dunes Golf and Country Club. Neither should it be surprising that this course holds a 4.5 star-rating from Golf Digest, and ranks among Florida’s and the US’ top golf courses. Going out of the box – or in this case, the city – reaps some good things too. (Plus Disneyland is only 15 minutes away!)

Harmony Golf Preserve

The things that are hardest to find are the most valuable. That’s why the rarest gems are the priciest. The Harmony Golf Preserve in Florida is a rare one. What is so special about this golf vacation destination, and what is most loved is the fact that it has as much solitude as there is accessibility. Where else does one see a course that is actually part of a housing community with no houses in sight? And that is not because no one wants to live there! This had just been so well planned that perfect balance was created.

Well, not surprisingly though. The Harmony Golf Preserve is the handiwork of renowned golfing personality, Johnny Miller. This is his only one in Florida, thus, the additional merits on rarity. It is a golfer’s haven sitting on an 11,000 acre property that’s bordered by thick forests of towering southern pines and broad meadows. Not only do there features create a picture-perfect aspect to the course, it has also made a part in creating a real challenge for golfers of all skill levels. And like icing to cake, making things even more delicious around here, there are two large, sparkling lakes that make its way into several holes. The course is built wrapped in natural wetlands, thus the harmony between nature and human genius. The result is, without a doubt, superb. And golf trips here are never shortchanged.

The Harmony Golf Preserve measures a whooping 7,428 yards from the longest tees, par 72, with several sets of tees to satisfy all golfers of all skill levels. And downtown Orlando is just a stone’s throw away. A golf vacation here will turn out to be one of the most unforgettable for anyone. And most valuable.

Bella Collina

Big could not even begin to describe the Bella Collina Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Neither could it fully encompass every aspect of it. This golf vacation destination is big on size yes, but that would be forgetting all the merits of its layout, scenery, and the totality of the incredible job that designer Nick Faldo did here. That would be unjust and unacceptable. Now all that needs to be done is to figure out where to begin describing this one of a kind creation.

The Bella Collina, to begin with, is yes, big. Massive. From the longest tees, it is more than 7,500 yards, par 72. And only to match its length, golfers are given six sets of tees to play from thereby accommodating pretty much most every golfer, handicap regardless. This layout sits on a rolling hill, a highland design that is nowhere near anything found in the Central Florida area – all 1900 acres of it. As golfers go through this course, they are taken in and around sweeping hillsides, thick forests and a former limestone quarry that adds a different flavor to the scenery. But what brings the ‘extra’ in extra special for golf trips here go beyond the 18-holes of the course.

Golfers will play in this course surrounded with views of orange groves and overlooking views of vineyards. If that is not visually stimulating enough, the sight of the two lakes, Apopka and Siena, will cover that. The Bella Collina is truly way beyond everything that anyone expects to see hereabouts. And golf vacations are exactly the same. Now, that makes ‘happy’ an insufficient adjective.
