The Ocean Course

With most of the holes on the seaside of the Northern Hemisphere, this 18-hole, The Ocean Course, is located in the eastern-most end of Kiawah Island. Pinehurst #8

While Pinehurst #2 has more history to it, many golf enthusiasts say that Pinehurst #8 is the best golf vacation destination, among all the courses in Pinehurst Resort, North Carolina. Redesigned by Fazio in 1996, Pinehurst #8 was created with a layout that closely positions greens and teens together, making it more pleasurable to walk. The quality of its design is one of the reasons why it has hosted Club Pro Championships in 1997 and 1998, showing that its championship course delights just about anyone, especially the pros.


On the Pinehurst #8, Blues that measures 6,698 yards has tee boxes with small plaque that defines the highlight of each hole. For example, the first hole shows an Audobon Signature Sanctuary, while the second hole, which is a 532 yard playing for par 5, shows evidences of Donald Ross traces, especially with the signature greenside bunkering. A wildlife museum can also be seen on hole 5, where Eastern Bluebirds, Screech Owls, and Bats reside. Next to it is the foremost handicap hole, a 584 yard par 5. More doglegs challenge uphill on the nine that can lead a golfer into a long second shot when playing straight.
