When one thing ends, another commences. Or so it has been the case of the Hammock Bay Golf Club. What was once the Marco Shores Golf Club – a Bruce Devlin/Robert Von Hagge original design – has been completely changed to bring a fresh and welcome change to the Naples, Fl golfing scene. PGA Tour legend Peter Jacobsen and Jim Hardy, created the newest “in-thing” in golf from the remnants of a classic. And the result could not be any less than the best golf vacation destination in the area.
Located near the Marco Island, the Hammock Bay Golf Club is a par-72, 18-hole spectacle that stretches close to 7000 yards from the
longest tees. There are five sets of tees, where the longest tees are close to being unforgiving but the middle and shorter tees are a treat to the lower-handicapped players. The course, moved perhaps by the pressure of staying out of its predecessor’s shadow, offers a different flavor to golf vacations hereabouts. It does have the lush tropical landscaping – inspired by the views of the nearby McIlvane Bay, but the terrain is rolling with mild elevation changes, things which are uncommonly found here. To make matters even better, the course holds the Certified Gold Sanctuary certification, the highest of its kind from the Audubon International.
The Hammock Bay Golf Club still has the usual helping of traditional Florida golf features: it has water playing on 14 of its 18 holes, and there are more than 50 shaped and well-placed bunkers spread all over the course. And it is always impeccably groomed, always ready for golf trips all year round. From the looks of it, it is safe to say even its predecessor would be so proud of the way it turned out.
Countless girls of all ages felt with Jamie Sullivan when Landon Carter took her to “two places at one time”. Countless golfers of all ages and handicaps, too, blushed at the thought of the Primm Valley Golf Club. It is located right in the patch of desert land dividing the states of Nevada and California, in Primm, where the best desert views are. Add Tom Fazio in the picture to create course layouts beyond compare, no golfer would be too tough to not be reduced to tears. The

Sometimes, the best way to enjoy life is to think outside the box. Whilst many people rave about all the great things in central Vegas, and while golfers scramble to get to the best there is within the city, the knowing golfers choose to go outside. Outside the city that is. Henderson, Nevada, a mere thirty minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, holds a wonderful secret in its midst: a

the longest and most difficult tees; its four sets of tees, however, give it a different flavor and make it more enjoyable for more golfers of lower handicaps. The whole golf course is spread on three different grounds, making it as versatile as it is interesting. Golfers are treated to six holes served on steep canyons, another six on a plateau with an overlooking view of Las Vegas, and another six sit on a desert wash. What makes it all the more unique is that, this
As mentioned earlier, what sets this course apart are its water features. Water plays on 7 of its 18 holes, with the last three being close to submerged. A little bit overrated a description, but the challenge that water poses on the closing holes make it seem so. The
No golfer cannot go any “badder” than at the
land into a complete golf facility consisting of three magnificent nines. And their names would speak for themselves: the Desperado, Diablo, and the newest one, the Outlaw. Each nine measures about 3,500 yards from the longest tees. Each nine features a rugged desert terrain, with quick greens and wide fairways. The contrasting textures and hues made by the sharp cliffs and rocks and the greens are a visual statement almost devilish in nature. No goody two shoes here; one can’t go nice and easy or shots will go wayward, and the monstrous arroyos and edges will eat the ball alive. This
This is the closest to heaven any golfer could get in Sin City. Or in the entire Nevada. The Angel Park Golf Club has fondly been named “the world’s most complete Las Vegas golf experience”. And there is reason enough for it. It is a 36-hole facility, and a world class putting green and short course on the side. One of its courses alone, the

standout among Florida courses for a number of things. For one, it bears some very dramatic elevation changes that are mostly unheard of in this flat side of the golfing country. The fairways are lined with trees, and water plays on six of the 18 holes but there are no forced carries to hurdle. This makes playing here truly fun and enjoyable; golfers are saved from the heartbreak. From too much heartbreak, that is. This course naturally does not go without challenge. The well bunkered greens will take care of that.
