Southern Dune Golf Club

Whether visitors are planning a golf vacation or just a round of golf with some friends, Southern Dune Golf Club will definitely excite and challenge golfers of all capacities, even the so-called experts. The golf club was originally for men only but welcomed women after six years. Located at Maricopa, Arizona, Southern Dune is one of the highlights of the Troon Golf collection. Its big, bold layout might be the very best work that Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley have done, with wide sweeping fairways, artistic and strategically placed bunkers, and masterfully crafted greens.

What truly distinguishes Southern Dune Golf Club is its versatility. It can be the “bomb” – from the tips. The golf course has a 76.2 rating, a 141 slope and five par-4s at least 463 yards apiece. But with five sets of tee boxes – the whites come in at 6074 yards – weekend duffers can also enjoy the layout. Be sure to avoid sand traps – they’re everywhere! Typical courses have two to three acres of sand but Southern Dune has 12. Golfers must stay out of the traps and they can post low scores; and finding the beach will explode their scorecards. A golf trip to Southern Dune requires critical strategies which will improve the golfers’ skills.

With its native grasses and rolling hills which are reminiscent of the great links courses, Southern Dune Golf Club is a unique golf experience that will challenge the veteran golfers while still accommodating the novice with its friendly practice facilities. It offers private lessons and features a double-ended practice range that stretches past 350 yards. A golf vacation for both beginners and experts, Southern Dune will definitely intimidate and surprise players for its unique golf course.
